Awareness drive on CMHT, AB-PMJAY held for IDPs in Kakching and Churachandpur

In a concerted effort to enhance healthcare access among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), a series of awareness programmes on the Chief Minister-Gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) and Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) were conducted today in Kakching and Churachandpur districts.
At Kakching, a one-day awareness programme was held at the SDO Waikhong Office, organised by the District Implementation Unit (DIU) in collaboration with the State Health Agency/State Nodal Cell, Manipur.
The initiative aimed to educate IDPs and officials about the benefits, enrolment procedures, and eligibility criteria of the schemes.
The programme was attended by several dignitaries, including SDO Waikhong Arvind Hanglem (IAS), IT Manager of State Health Agency Irengbam Michael Singh, Investigation Doctor Dr Gaishing, DCO Imphal West L Olempus Singh, DCO DPC DIU Kakching Soibam Rajesh Singh, and MO in-charge CHC Kakching Dr Ningthoujam Brojendro Singh.
Addressing the gathering, Arvind Hanglem elaborated on enrolment procedures and documentation required to avail benefits under CMHT and AB-PMJAY.
Irengbam Michael Singh highlighted the importance of health cards under both schemes, stating that they significantly improve access to healthcare services, particularly for displaced populations.
He urged beneficiaries to approach the DIU for assistance in case of any issues and stressed the need for proper verification to obtain scheme cards.
Officials informed that AB-PMJAY provides cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per family annually at empanelled hospitals, while CMHT offers financial assistance for various treatments within the state.
The programme witnessed participation of around 398 IDPs, along with officials and relief camp volunteers.
Meanwhile, a similar awareness campaign was conducted at the Prefab Relief Centre, Torbung, in Churachandpur district for Kangvai Sub-Division by the DIU Churachandpur in collaboration with the State Health Agency, Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Auditor Jenny Paite explained the dos and don'ts of the schemes, including card usage, eligibility criteria, enrolment procedures, and required documents.
She urged IDPs to keep essential documents such as Aadhaar and ID cards ready to ensure smooth and timely issuance of CMHT and AB-PMJAY cards before hospital admission.
Highlighting the benefits, she reiterated that eligible families could avail cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per year under AB-PMJAY.
Beneficiaries facing issues were advised to contact toll-free helpline numbers 1800-10302015 (State) or 14555 (National) or visit nearby healthcare centres for assistance.
The programme was attended by Dr Vanlalkungi, CMO and Member Secretary (DIU), District Coordinator Thuamkhanlian Ngaihte, S Thangmuanlal (PMAM), and relief camp inmates.
As part of its ongoing outreach, the DIU has scheduled further awareness campaigns at St Joseph School, Singngat Sub-Division on April 6, at Prefab Relief Centre, Sangaikot on April 7 (morning), and at SDO Office, Saikot on April 7 (afternoon).
The initiatives reflect sustained efforts by the authorities to extend healthcare awareness and coverage to vulnerable and displaced communities across the state.
