CPI Heirok holds annual conference

CPI Heirok Local Council holds its 51st annual conference today at the residence of Ningthoujam Lokendra located at Heirok Pt II Maning Leikai.
It was attended by CPI National leader and former Minister, Dr M Nara, CPI State Secretary, L Thoiren, State Secretariat member, A Naha, District Secretary, L Kshetra, CPI Heirok Local Council in-charge, Y Chaoba along with CPI Heirok Local Council leaders, N Lokendra, Okram Biramangol, Pebam Lekhon as presidium members.
The conference began with the unfurling of the party flag by Ningthoujam Lokendro and observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the late members of CPI Heirok Local Council.
The branch secretaries of the Heirok Local Council who have excelled in performing their duties and spouses of late 18 comrades of the Local Council were also honoured with gifts and traditional shawl by Ningthoujam Hemochandra.
During the conference, the members unanimously passed several resolutions, including, opposing the delimitation exercise, to demand the govt to make necessary arrangement for IDPs to return to their original homes, provide clean drinking water and to improve the road conditions of the constituency, to send a representative of the Local Council in the upcoming Municipal and Gram Panchayat election and the General election, and to revive the women branch of Heirok Local Council among others.
The conference was attended by more than 100 members of the Heirok Local Council.
