Imphal, June 20 2013:
Continuing with the demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State, Laibak Kanba Ahal Lup, Sanamahi Lainingkon Shanglen (Sanakon) and International Manipuri Mothers' Association jointly staged a sit-in at Keishampat Yumjao Lairembi Shanglen here today.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest demonstration, President of Laibak Kanba Ahal Lup Nepram Nungkanba said that the Inner Line Permit System should be implemented within a month in the State.
The existence of indigenous people is being threatened by unrestrained influx of non-locals to the State.
ILP System is the only tool that can check the ever growing population of the non-locals, he noted.
He further maintained that the Manipuris of Manipur would one day have the same fate as those Tripuris of Tripura if the State government does not take up effective measures to check the non-locals who are now dominating in all spheres.
Nungkanba also appealed to all social leaders to join hands in demanding the ILP System for safeguarding the rights of indigenous people in the State.
