Imphal, June 20 2013:
Three cadres including the Home Secretary of United Revolutionary Front (URF), which is currently under trilateral peace talks with the Union and State government, were abducted by some suspected security personnel in plain clothes from a diagnostic centre at Kangla Park yesterday.
The abducted cadres are Home Secretary Mongyamba alias Ruhini Kumar (55), Huidrom Shantikumar alias Pamen (38) of Yumnam Huidrom and Yumnam Shantikumar alias Raja (37) of Irom Meijrao.
Addressing media persons today at Manipur Press Club, Home Secretary Mongyamba's wife Memton alias Sabitri, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of women's wing of URF, said that her husband is a diabetic patient and he went to a diagnostic centre for blood test.
She accompanied him along with Sub-Super Committee member Huidrom Shantikumar and his wife Sandhya and another cadre Yumnam Shantikumar in a car.
Ruhini and two other cadres were called out by some unidentified persons in plain clothes from the Diagnostic Centre.
Memton recounted that she saw three of them whisked away by the unidentified persons along with the car they brought.
Their whereabouts are still untraceable, she added.
URF is one of the outfits under peace talks with the government.
197 cadres of the outfit laid arms to the government and they are presently sheltered at the campus of 9-Dogra Regiment at Loitang Khunou Spinning Mill.
She said that abduction of the three cadres of the outfit could be a factor for derailing the current peace talks, and appealed to all concerned to trace the whereabouts of the abducted cadres at the earliest.
