Imphal, July 19 2018:
The Kangleipak Kanba Lup, Manipur (KKLM) has warned the State Govemmentthat ifthe Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015 goes against the interest of Manipur, a more intensified form of agitation will be launched.
In a statement issued to the press today, KKLM recalled the uproar of June 18, 2001 after the phrase 'ceasefire without territorial limits' was inserted in the cease fire pact in which 18 protestors laid down their lives for the integrity of Manipur.
On the other hand, if the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, which promises to grant citizenship (to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Christians, Parsis from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan,) is enacted, it will pose great threat to the indigenous peoples of North East.
KKLM also questioned the silence of the State Government on the Bill when much bigger States like Assam have already protested the Bill.
The Kangleipak Kanba Lup urged the State Government to convene a special session of the Assembly during the Monsoon session with all the political party and pass appropriate resolutions based on the demand of the public.
