Rare genetic disease Keloids detected at Ukhrul

Rare genetic disease Keloids was detected for the first time in Ukhrul during a free surgical and medical camp organised by the All Tangkhul Medicos Association (AMTA) at Leishiphung Christian.Hospital (LCH), Meizailung, Ukhrul.
Speaking to this correspondent, president of ATMA Dr Soreingam said the genetic disease Keloids was detected during the medical camp.
The man with the rare genetic disease has been admitted to the hospital for necessary treatment, he said and added that special medical attention would be given to him.
According to him, the rare genetic ailment Keloids was detected for the first time at Nungbi village, Ukhrul.
Dr Soreingam also mentioned that the objective of the ATMA camp is to extend medical services to the door steps of the people in order to ensure well being of the people living in remote villages.
ATMA engaged 36 medical practitioners from Tangkhul community working in different health sectors in the State to render free services to the needy people.
He said ATMA is a non profit organization formed in 2011 to extend health services irrespective of the caste or community.
According to him, 50 major surgery will be conducted related to gall stone extraction, removal of ovary, hernia, thyroid etc for patients who have completed the necessary procedures for operation.
The OPT consultation has set a target of covering 1500 patients during the camp.
President of ATMA confidently said sufficient specialists from different streams including from medical, gynecology, pediatric, ENT and ophthalmology etc were arranged for the camp.
Serious cases would be referred for further treatment.
About 1000 patients have registered for the camp till the time of filing this report.
