NIT Manipur hosts "Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp"

A 3-Day Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp kicked off today at the Department of Commerce, Manipur University, with enthusiastic participation of more than 140 Principals and teachers from PM SHRI Schools across the State.
The IDE Bootcamp, hosted by the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur, was jointly organised by the AICTE-Innovation Cell, School Innovation Council, NCERT, Department of School Education & Literacy of the Ministry of Education, Government of India in collaboration with Wadhwani Foundation.
The inaugural function was graced by Prof DVLN Somayajulu, Director, NIT Manipur; Prof Kh Tomba Singh, Registrar, NIT Manipur; Aseem Kaita, Regional Coordinator; representatives from the State Education Department; and distinguished resource persons from the Wadhwani Foundation, Gauri Gopinath and Sachin Gupta, along with other eminent guests, Principals, teachers and members of the organising committee.
Welcoming the gathering, the organisers emphasized the core objective of the bootcamp, which is to build capacity among school leaders and educators by equipping them with innovative thinking, design-thinking methodologies, and entrepreneurial skills.
The programme is aligned with the vision of NEP 2020 and PM SHRI Schools, which aim to transform schools into model institutions showcasing best practices, inclusivity, sustainability, and future readiness.
In his address, Prof Somayajulu highlighted the pivotal role of teachers as nation builders, stressing that meaningful innovation in education begins with a change in mindset rather than dependence on infrastructure alone.
He noted that educators play a crucial role in nurturing creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving abilities among students, which are essential for success in a rapidly changing world.
Prof Kh Tomba stated that the bootcamp is expected to create a strong multiplier effect, as trained educators will carry forward innovative practices to their respective schools, thereby positively impacting thousands of students.
The sessions during the bootcamp were focused on the three core pillars: Innovation in Education, encouraging new approaches to teachingleaming processes and experiential learning; Design Thinking, promoting a humancentered, empathetic approach to problem-solving in classrooms; and Entrepreneurship, viewed as a life skill that builds leadership, resilience, initiative, and ethical decision-making among students.
The resource persons from the Wadhwani Foundation shared practical frameworks, tools, and real-world examples, enabling participants to translate concepts of innovation and entrepreneurship into actionable classroom and school-level practices.
