Imphal, June 04 2025:
Transportation of essential goods and supplies to Imphal has been halted since the collapse of the Imphal-Dimapur road (National Highway-2) at Phesama, Nagaland, on June 1 .
In a late evening development, MDA said that around 200 trucks, previously stuck at the bypass between Senapati and Mao, have begun moving towards Kohima.
The association also reported that over 1,000 loaded trucks are currently stranded between Bokajan and Phesama, and six tyre trucks from this batch will begin heading to Imphal from tomorrow evening.
As the highway remains closed with no sign of restoration, stranded trucks from Imphal, which were stuck at Mao, have begun moving towards Kohima via Kigwema and Chakhabama.

Over 150 loaded trucks, which were stuck after the road sink, have headed back towards Dimapur.
According to reports received by The Sangai Express, a disagreement has emerged between the Nagaland Government and a landowner at Phesama, where the road sank, over road cutting work for diversion.
It is reported that a meeting between the landowner, represented by the Phesama Village Council and the Nagaland Government at the Home Minister level held on Tuesday failed to yield an agreement on certain conditions, resulting in delays to road cutting work for diversion.
While the two sides reached an agreement on compensation, the landowner's demand for the road cutting project contract has stalled the diversion work, causing delays, as per the report.
Even as the road sink at Phesama continues to disrupt connectivity between Mao and Kohima, reports indicate that the road is unlikely to reopen at least within the next four days.
The road, which sank over a stretch of around 50-60 meters, remains unrepaired as of today.
Efforts are underway to retrieve the loaded truck that was affected by the road collapse using heavy machinery.
A team of Surface Transport Hill Areas Drivers' Welfare Union" (STHADWU) and Senapati District Drivers' Welfare Union (SDDWU) have inspected the site at Phesama where the National Highway collapsed under the supervision of the All Manipur Road Transport Drivers' & Motor Workers' Union (AMRTDMWU) .
Saying that goods transportation to Imphal has now been restored on National Highway-37 (Imphal-Jiribam road), AMRTDMWU appealed to traders to maintain stable prices for essentials.
The Imphal-Jiri road was recently obstructed by a landslide at Nungdolan.
