COCOMI blames centre for Manipur crisis

Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) coordinator YK Dhiren has categorically charged the central government of siding with armed Kuki narco-terrorists and using them as a tool.
Speaking at a public convention held on Monday in Bishnupur district as part of the series of meetings being organised by COCOMI, Dhiren criticised the centre for its alleged failure to resolve the al most two-year old unrest situation besieging the state , and called on the public to adopt firm resolutions at the May 3 meeting organised by the Committee so as demonstrate the courage and unity of the indigenous communities.
The public convention organised in connection with the Manipur crisis by Bishnupur Akoiba Apunba Lup in association with COCOMI at Bishnupur Thiyam Leikai community hall, was attended by Chothe village chief Jatra Chothe, Nungshai Chiru village chief Thangpu Chiru, Ngaikhong Khullen Gram Panchayat chairperson M Bala, United Women Development Organisation president RK Tombishana, and COCOMI coordinator Khuraijam Athouba, convenor YK Dhiren and co-convenor Y Surnitkumar Khuman as presidium members.
In his address, Khuraijam Athouba announced that a public meeting being planned on May 3 at Khuman Lampak, will include thorough deliberation on the prevailing unrest situation and adoption of various resolutions aimed at bringing solution to the crisis.
He also urged all concerned to attend and lend their support to the cause.
Athouba also revealed that COCOMI has compiled a comprehensive fact-finding report concerning the ongoing crisis in the state, which began on May 3, 2023.Accusing the government of India of deliberately prolonging the crisis rather than working towards a resolution, he contended that the centre has failed to resolve the same despite the passage of two years.
He then questioned the role of the central government in the crisis and its commitment in resolving the same, while pointing out that inability to secure the national highway for nearly two years underscores indifferent attitude of the government to suffering of the state's masses.
