Imphal, January 22 2014 :
Alleging discrepancy in the police recruitment process, Manipur People's Party (MPP) has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.
A local newspaper had reported today that anomalies have been detected in the police recruitment where candidates who did not attend viva voce were selected for the posts of Sub-Inspectors (SIs) and Jemadars, the results of which were declared in 2010 .
Addressing media persons in this connection today, H.Nabashyam demanded that the Chief Minister to resign immediately.
According to the news report, the Police Headquarters wrote to the state government to invalidate the recruitment results after receiving written information from the Recruitment Board Chairman about the anomalies and discrepancies committed in the recruitment.
Earlier on December 16, 2013, according to the reports Recruitment Board chairman, IGP (Administration) C Doungel wrote to the Chief Secretary, stating that many discrepancies were seen in the recruitment process of SIs and Jemadars.
He had also appealed to the state government to declare the particular recruitment results as null and void.
But the government has not moved an inch even after pleas from the police headquarters.
The DGP along with the recruitment board had examined the answer sheets of the written test even if questions were not set by them.
The report stated that four candidates who had not attended viva voce were included in the selected list of candidates.
The four candidates who managed to clear the recruitment without attending viva voce are N Ali Akhtar (SI chest no 143), Yambem Samananda (Jemadar chest no 333), Ng Veipunii (SI chest no 55) and Alex Lalminlun (WL-SI, chest no 21).Moreover, Md.Sukur Ali (Jemadar chest no 8) and BM Imran Hussain (SI chest no 255) both suffering from impaired hearing capacity, P Kiran (SI chest no 192) suffering from defective eyesight and Th Ronaljit (WL-Jemadar chest no 217) who stammered were all selected as rightful candidates.
Adding to the controversy, two selected candidates namely Mongjam Amarjit (SI, chest no 76) and Bisho Luwang (SI chest no 766) had submitted forged educational certificates during the selection process which has even more necessitated to nullify the recruitment results.
Looking into the various suspicious elements contributing to non-transparency of the state's recruitment procedure, MPP has demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister and stated that he is not fit to remain in office if his governance cannot maintain transparency.
