Senapati, June 15 2025:
Various Naga student bodies have strongly condemned the filling of FIRs against functionaries of ANSAM, SDSA and its federating units and demanded immediate withdrawal of the cases registered in connection with the recent agitation against scrapping of FMR and border fencing.
Condemning the FIRs and demanding immediate withdrawal, the Tangkhul Kat-amnao Saklong (TKS) said that Naga people have long y earned for peace and dignity but the Government of India continues to deepen historical wounds.
It said that Centre's decision to erect fences along the Indo-Myanmar artificial boundary is not just unacceptable but a direct assault on the land, identity and the future of the Nagas.
As a rightful act of resistance, the Nagas have consistently voiced opposition through peaceful means.
The most recent being office picketing called by ANSAM on June 2 and 3, which concluded peacefully across Naga areas except in Senapati district headquarter due to provocation from SP and additional SP (LO).
The situation in Senapati escalated solely due to aggressive attitude of the two officers instead of addressing the people s voice, TKS said and termed filing of FIRs against ANSAM executives and functionaries of SDSA and its five federating units as acts of intimidation.
While asserting to stand in solidarity with ANSAM, SDSA and its units, the TKS demanded immediate withdrawal of all FIRs and immediate transfer of SP and Addl SP (L&O) from Senapati district.
Any further provocation or harassment to student leaders will be treated as a direct attack on the democratic rights of the Naga student complicity, it said adding the government of Manipur shall be solely responsible for any fallout.
The students' body also called upon all members and federating units to remain vigilant and prepare for any eventuality.
The Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) and Anal Lenruwl Tangpi general headquarters (ALT-GHQ) also vowed to stand in solidarity with ANSAM, SDSA and its units and demanded immediate withdrawal of the FIRs.
The two Naga student bodies also demanded immediate transfer of SP and additional SP from Senapati district.
Reaffirming their stand for justice, land and people, the Maring Students' Union (MSU) said it under the banner of ANSAM consistently and resolutely opposed the arbitrary border fencing and unilateral abrogation of Free Movement Regime (FMR) by the Government of India.
Such moves are not only insensitive but also threaten the historical, cultural, and ancestral ties of the Naga people across the artificial boundaries.
Despite several peaceful demonstrations and democratic expressions of dissent including the recently concluded 48-hour office picketing, the Government of India has failed to respond meaningfully.
Such continued apathy reveals an alarming intent to ignore the legitimate concerns of the people and furthers the deep-rooted colonial approach toward the Naga issue, MSU said adding that the peaceful assertion of democratic rights was unfortunately met with provocation from SP and Additional SP (Law and Order) of Senapati district.
The body demanded immediate withdrawal of all FIRs filed against student leaders and organisations and immediate transfer of SP and Addl SP (Law and Order) of Senapati district.
The Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe (STS) or the Monsang Naga Students' Union also expressed deep concern and strong condemnation over filing FIR filed against ANSAM, SDSA and its federating units and demanded immediate withdrawal of the FIRs.
The Zeme Students' Organisation, Manipur (ZSOM) also demands immediate withdrawal of FIRs without any condition and immediate transfer of SP and Addl'SP (L&O) from Senapati district.
