Lions Club of Imphal organises Blood donation camp

Observing the occasion of Patriots' Day, ablood donation camp was jointly organized by Lions Club of Imphal, Lions Club of Imphal Valley and CRPF (Manipur & Nagaland Sector) in association with Lions' Clubs under the sponsorship of Lions Club of Imphal at Lions Service Centre, Sangaiprou, Imphal today.
Rajesh Kumar, IG, CRPF (Manipur & Nagaland) graced the camp as chief guest while Lion H Manikumar Singh, Past Dist Governor.
District 322D attended as guest of honour.
Earlier, members of various Lions Clubs and guests paid floral tributes to the brave souls of Manipur, conveyed a press release issued by Lion M Manas Singh, Marketing& Communication Officer, Lions Club of Imphal.
50 volunteers, including 23 personnel of CRPF donated blood during the camp.
Rajesh Kumar also donated blood.
Addressing the gathering, Rajesh Kumar said that despite the hectic security schedule in view of the upcoming Independence Day celebration, the CRPF is deputing its personnel to take part in the camp as it is the greatest humanitarian service.
Lion H Manikumar Singh said that such camp is organized by Lions Club of Imphal every year on August 13 with a view to pay homage to the brave souls of Manipur while adding that it is a permanent project of the club.
As a part of the blood donation camp, Lion Dr A Barindra Sharma, HOD, Dept of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, RIMS and Dr Tomcha Khuman, State Programme Officer, National Health Mission provided awareness lectures on blood donation.
The experts informed the gathering that the safest blood is from non-remunerated voluntary blood donors.
It is targeted that, by 2020 every blood unit should be from voluntary blood donors.
