Ex-MLA, MPP back UCM sponsored rally

Former MLA of Keishamthong Constituency Laishom Ibomcha has appealed the public and people from all walks of life to participate in the mass rally which will be organised tomorrow by United Committee Manipur (UCM) for a joint movement towards protecting the integrity of Manipur and standing against the threat posed by the Framework Agreement.
Speaking to media persons at his residence at Keishamthong Laishom Leirak today, he conveyed that he will also extend solidarity to the rally and added that the constant threat and apprehension created among the people of Manipur as a result of the peace talk between the Central Government and the NSCN-IM, should be stopped immediately.
He then alleged that during the meetings of the Parliamentary Standing Committee which were held on November 13 and 27 last year, Ministry of Home Affairs, DIB Home Secretary and interlocutor of the Naga peace talk, misguided the members of the Standing Committee by providing false reports.
Questioned why the MPs from Manipur remained mum regarding the matter, Ibomcha said that it is the right time for the State Government to take a Cabinet decision and pressure the Central Government to come up with a separate agreement, similar to the FA, for the welfare of Manipur.
On the other hand, the former MLA claimed that if special status is granted to the Nagas living in Manipur, it will create chaos in the State and added that the Home Ministry should be made aware of this reality as well.
The State Government, MPs, MLAs, political parties, CSOs and stakeholders should come together and demand the Central Government to provided special status for all the permanent residents of the State, he added.
The former MLA continued that he has decided to dedicate his life to the welfare and betterment of the State and added that he will wholeheartedly take part in any movement of the State.
On the other hand MPP today announced that more than 1000 members of the party including leaders would take part in tomorrow's UCM sponsored October Mass Rally.
Speaking to media persons at their Mapal Kangjeibung office this afternoon, MPP president Oinam Jugindro said that their party was established with the primary objective of safeguarding the integrity of Manipur and the sanctity of its territorial boundary.
He said that they launched a mobilisation campaign since October 18 for tomorrow's rally.
Even though information has been received that representatives of political parties would not be given opportunity to speak at the public convention which would be held after the rally tomorrow, MPP would attend the convention, said the president.
There is a standing resolution of MPP that it would demand pre-merger political status if the threats and conspiracies to disintegrate Manipur are repeated again and again, Jugindro said.
Since the day Manipur was merged into the Indian Union, external and internal forces have been making repeated attempts to disintegrate Manipur.
MPP will not remain silent to any conspiracy of the Government of India aimed at disintegrating the State, he asserted.
As long as either BJP or Congress remain in power, there will be no solution to the political dialogue going on between the Government of India and NSCN-IM since 1997 .
Both BJP and Congress Governments which ruled at the Centre always projected regional parties as antagonists of united India, Jugindro decried.
He pledged that MPP will face any threat to the integrity of Manipur together with the masses.
