Imphal, October 30 2015 :
Reacting against the frequent accusations that the valley people have looted the funds meant for the hills, All Manipur United Club's Organisation (AMUCO) Advisor KT Rehman on Friday alleged that the funds meant for the hills are looted by their own representatives.
KT Rehman made the statement at a public discussion programme organised by United Committee Manipur (UCM), AMUCO and Committee of Civil Societies, Kangleipak (CCSK) at Naoremthong Laishram Leirak Community Hall to discuss on the present situation of Manipur.
Attending the programme titled "The People's Movement for the Common Future of Manipur" as presidium member, KT Rehman alleged that all the funds meant for developmental projects in hill areas and its people have been looted only by those representing the hills including ministers, MLAs, ADC members and village chiefs, said KT Rehman.
The Centre and the State Government have been releasing funds from time to time with an aim to develop the backward hill areas but hill representatives have always looted the funds, said the AMUCO advisor.
He pointed out that it was not right to blame the valley people for the underdevelopment seen in the hills while the actual looters were the leaders from their own areas.
KT Rehman further said it was necessary for all communities in the State to be alert and stand united as the recent peace accord signed between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) could be a threat to the territorial integrity of Manipur.
People still needs to remain vigilant since the contents of the recent Naga Peace Accord have not been made public.
The Government of India should not try to disintegrate Manipur when trying to appease the NSCN (IM).
The people of the State will be against any forces who attempt to do the same, warned Rehman.
KT Rehman blamed the Government of India for encouraging NSCN (IM) to break Manipur and form a separate State for the Nagas.
He also accused the Centre for concealing the contents of the Naga framework agreement.
The public discussion was also attended by CCSK Secretary Jitendra Ningomba, UCM Vice President Sunil Karam, All Clubs Association Vice President Khaidem Heramani and retired Colonel Kh Sorojit as presidium members.
