Agape Friendship School inaugurated at Raenghzaeng village

With the objective of providing quality education to children in rural areas, Agape Friendship School was inaugurated on Thursday at Raenghzaeng (Ngarian) village in Churachandpur district.
The newly established institution will offer classes from pre-nursery to Class VI.
The school is sponsored by the Joseph Alapat family and supported by the Sunbird Trust.
The inaugural function was attended by several distinguished guests, including YSM Brigadier Laiphrakpam Ibotombi Singh; benefactors Rita Joseph and Paul Alapat; Executive Director of RNBA, Dimgong Rongmei; founder of Agape Friendship School Lungthuingam Rongmei; founder of Sunbird Trust, retired Col Christopher Rego; retired Col Balram Singh Badwal; Commandant of 19 Assam Rifles, Col Karan Sandhu, along with other eminent personalities from the village.
Addressing the gathering, retired Col Chirstopher Rego said that during his service with the Border Roads Transport Force (BRTF) in Manipur for over four years, he observed a significant lack of educational infrastructure in remote areas.
He said that the initiative to establish the school was taken to contribute towards uplifting education in such regions, particularly in Manipur, as part of the Sunbird Trust' ongoing efforts in the North East.
He expressed confidence that the school would provide quality education to students from all communities and gradually develop into a model institution.
Founder Lungthuingam Rongmei, in his address, expressed hope that the establishment of Agape Friendship School would help reduce school dropout rates in the region.
He added that the school plans to introduce computer classes and various extracurricular activities in the coming days to ensure holistic development of students.
