11th Manipur Integrity and Solidarity Day observed

Imphal, September 28 2011: Apunba Manipur Kanba Lup (AMKIL) and National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) observed the 11th Manipur Integrity and Solidarity Day at the Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace compound today.

The function was graced by Ph Sakhi Leima, President, AMKIL, Leibon Khupler, President NIPCO, Akhup Serto of Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur, Boilen Kom, Village Chief of kangpokpi, K Lengkham Thangal, Villge Chief of Thangal Surung village, R Ashong, Village Chief of Utonglok and Rineichong Purum, village chief of Purum Likli Village as the presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Th Devan, President of AMUCO said that the various ethnic communities of the state have been leaving together as brothers since time immemorial.

This relation is being threatened by a handful of people who are bent on destroying the peaceful co existence of all communities in the state.

The people of the state should be aware of the presence of such self centered people.

He further went on to say that the present economic blockade has made both the people of the plains and the valleys go through a lot of suffering.

The demand of the Sadar Hills is genuine which the people of the state is support.

But the agitators should also know that their mode of agitation gives immense suffering to the poor and the needy people of the state.

Unable to bear the immense suffering the people of the valley have stated the counter economic blockade whereby essential goods are being blocked from being transported to the hill areas.

This shows the people's resentment against the economic blockade.

However genuine the demands are, if the mode of agitation hits the people, then people's support will automatically get reduced.

So the economic and counter economic blockades should be stopped and the government should also try and bring a solution to the Sadar Hills issue, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Rineichong Purum, village chief of Purum Likli Village, said that in order to preserve the weakening bond of love between the people of the hills and the plains there is a need to build up strong emotional integrity.

He further said that the act of the Meetei people who came out and hold back the clash between the Nagas and the Kukis is still remembered.

If that was not the case, Nagas and Kukis would still have fought amongst each other.

Likewise the hill people should not come up with anything that hurts the Meetei community.

The economic blockade which harms both the hills and the plain people should be stopped.
