KSO-GHQ refutes news report

Imphal, October 20 2013: The Kuki Students Organisation-General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) has refuted to certain news items linking its name to the the recent college students' union elections imbroglio.

KSO-GHQ said today that since its inception, the organisation has never interfered in college students' union elections unlike other students' organizations or unions as it believes college students' unions are meant exclusively for the welfare of their colleges and encourages college students of not taking keen on students' politics at an early stage of their academic carrier.

The Kuki students' body also said it has no knowledge about the imbroglio or whatsoever between the Joint Monitoring Cell formed by some valley based students' unions and candidates of the Modern College Students' Union election.

As a matter of fact, the students' body is baffled as to how its organization's name has been dragged into this imbroglio.

"It is absurd to have organized a joint press conference with 'pseudo ATSUM and its ally TSA which KSO had snubbed the existence of pseudo ATSUM.

It is really unfortunate and KSO deemed as a plot to destroy the long cherished cordial relation between KSO and valley students' organizations like DESAM, AMSU etc.

by some unscrupulous individuals," the KSO-GHQ stated.

It then said that in connection with the organization's name being dragged into the situation, the emergency meeting of the organization has resolved to constitute a probe into the matter whereby stringent action will be taken up against any individuals/groups found guilty.

Even if any of its members happened to be found involved will not be spared either, it said.

"Lastly, KSO hopes the Joint Monitoring Cell will monitor college elections in a free and fair manner without bias and also expresses our faith on the monitoring cell as some trusted students' unions of the state are actively involved in the cell.

However, if situation compels there are no conditions that KSO will not be involved on college elections," the apex Kuki students' body added.
