Imphal, February 14 2026:
Renowned scholar Prof Kuldip Chand Agnihotri, former Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh and Vice President of Sahitya & Sanskrit Academy, Haryana, visited UNACCO School, Chanung today.
In an engaging interaction with staff, he shared profound insights on Indian culture, linguistic diversity, and traditional knowledge systems, underscoring their relevance in today's world.
Addressing the group, Prof Agnihotri highlighted India's rich mosaic of languages, explaining, "While languages may differ in form, the essence of thoughts and expressions remains the same".
He affirmed that this unity proves "India is one nation, despite these differences", calling for pride in shared heritage.
He portrayed the Indian Knowledge System as a "continuous and evolving process", declaring the "greatest religion" to be passing knowledge to future generations.
Knowledge, he insisted, must remain free from patents or copyrights to truly serve humanity and the common people.
Prof Agnihotri also clarified Dharma, distinguishing it from mere religion: it is "the moral duty and responsibility of an individual, essential for maintaining social harmony".
Responding to CMD N Irabanta Singh's query on ancient losses like Nalanda's knowledge appropriated by Western scholars, Prof Agnihotri called for recognizing and preserving India's intellectual legacy.
The visit concluded with Prof Agnihotri planting a tree on campus, symbolizing environmental stewardship.
