Manipur Heart Foundation celebrates 5th anniversary, releases activity report

The 5th anniversary of Manipur Heart Foundation (MHF) was observed at Classio Royal Hall of Classic Hotel, Imphal on August 11 following the release of its 5 years Activity Report.
The report was released by O Lukhoi Singh, MLA of Wangoi AC, N Hiyainu Devi, w/o Chief Minister N Biren, RK Meme Devi, DIG, Director of Fire Services and Dr L Shyamkishore Singh, president of Manipur Heart Foundation.
A press release issued by manager of MHF stated that since its inception, the Foundation has performed various activities as well as taken up numerous initiatives for the welfare of the people.
An impressive program called 'Run For Your Heart' was organised in Imphal city on March 17, 2013 to create awareness on various heart diseases and their preventive measures.
The programme started from Porompat, Imphal East and finished at RIMS Road, Imphal West and was participated by people from various walk of life including popular film and sports personalities and school students.
The MHF organised various free heart check-up camps and distribution of relief materials to the victims of devastated flood that affected Thoubal district in 2015.It also extended assistance to victims of the 6.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Manipur (Noney, January 2016) apart form delivering free OPD and echo screening program at different districts of the State.
The MHF in association with State Health Mission, from January 11 this year, started State-wide free heart camps along with free echo screening on the regular basis to cover all the 16 districts of Manipur, performing at least two such camps every month.
It stated that, so far, Manipur Heart Foundation has organised 66 free heart screening camps in various districts of Manipur covering remote and far flung hill and valley areas.
9460 free OPD, 1149 free ECHO, 3037 ECG, 4438 free Diabetes detection test (Blood Sugar Test) and 4438 Hypertension detection test ( BP recording ) were provided to the patients of different districts, it claimed.
One of the most remarkable activities was extending the financial assistance of Rs.4,90,000/- (Rupees Four Lakh and Ninety Thousand only) to 25 heart patients from all the districts belonging to BPL and economically weaker sections of the society for the treatment of their various heart diseases.
Later, a musical nite was also held part of the anniversary and kind hearted donors expressed their willingness to help the heart patients with donation.
Dr L Shyamkishore Singh appealed to the people to avail such opportunities of free heart and echo screening camps at their door steps.
He also stated that the MHF will continue to provide financial assistance to heart patients belonging to BPL family and EWS of the society.
To avail such financial assistance, heart patients of the State belonging to BPL family may apply to the Foundation's office at SKY Hospital Building, RIMS Road with relevant medical documents.
