Mahila Jansunwai held at Thoubal to address women's grievances

Thoubal, March 11 2026:
In connection with the observance of International Women's Day, a Mahila Jansunwai programme was held on Wednesday at the Counting Hall of the DC Office Complex, Thoubal district, providing a platform for women to voice their grievances and seek institutional support.
The programme was organised by the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) in coordination with the District Administration, Thoubal, under the initiative of the National Comsmission for Women (NCW) .
The event forms part of a series of Mahila Jansunwai programmes being conducted across five districts of Manipur from March 9 to 13, 2026, aimed at promoting women's safety, dignity, and access to justice.
Delivering the introductory address, W Phajatombi Devi, MCS, Member Secretary and Additional Director (IPR), highlighted that the initiative aims to provide women with a direct and accessible platform to raise their concerns and seek institutional support.
She stated that the programme enables authorities to hear and address complaints related to domestic violence, workplace harassment.
maternity benefits, abandonment, trafficking, and other forms of gender-based injustice through a timely grievance redressal mechanism.
Chairperson of MSCW, Th Tiningpham Monsang, also addressed the gathering and encouraged women from different parts of the district to come forward and voice their grievances.
She noted that such programmes help raise awareness among women, especially those who may lack knowledge about legal protections and support systems related to harassment, trafficking, and other issues.
Hundreds of women attended the programme, where immediate hearing of complaints, registration and escalation of cases, legal guidance, procedural assistance, and mechanisms for time-bound follow-up were facilitated.
During the programme, eight women from the district submitted walk-in complaints seeking redressal.
Among those present at the programme were Additional Deputy Commissioner Aribam Amaijit Sharma, Legal Advisors of MSCW, Santa Khaidem and Rajkishore Thiyam, MSCW member Sophia Moyon, along with officials from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), DPO/ CEO ZP, DSWO Thoubal, police personnel, the One Stop Centre (OSC), and other district-level officers from various departments.
