RIMS observes World Autism Awareness Day

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, observed World Autism Awareness Day for the first time at the General OPD Complex, RIMS, Imphal, with the objective of raising awareness and promoting inclusivity for individuals with autism.
Professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, underscored the necessity of establishing a dedicated autism care center and called for collaborative efforts to create a supportive environment for affected families.
A slideshow on the role of occupational therapists in autism management, prepared by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) was displayed throughout the day.
Additionally, various departments contributed Information, Education, and Communication (IEC.) materials to enhance public understanding of autism and its management.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including the Dean (Academics), the Principals of the Dental College and College of Nursing, Heads of Departments (HODs), faculty members, nursing officials, staff and students.
Meanwhile, as part of Swachhata Pakhwada, a social service activity was also organized on the second day in the presence of Professor N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal.
The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the 86 Bn CRPF, Lamphelpat, led by Commandant Saurabh Kumar Chaudhary, along with Ravinder Kumar (Second-in-Command), Kiyam Rajiv (Deputy Commandant), Ajeet Ram (Assistant Commandant), and Rajender Singh (Assistant Commandant) .
