Imphal, October 30 2018: Imphal East Session Judge Gaiphulshillu Golmei today convicted a 54 year old man under section 302 (murder) of one of his relatives on January 15, 2016 and fixed November 2 for the sentence hearing to announce the quantum of punishment against the convict.

The judgment was announced in an open Court today after it was kept reserved on October 4 after the final hearing, The convict Konsam Henba @ Irabanta 54 s/o (L) K Rashi of Khurai Thangjam Leikai, Chingangbam Leirak who was out on bail was also present during the announcement of the Court order.

According to the Court judgment the case was on against the convict/accused after a complaint was lodged by one K Dinsehor of Khurai Thangjam Leikai, Chingangbam Leirak before OGPorompat on January 15, 2016 stating that on the same day at around 7.45 pm his uncle Konsam Thawaileima 45 s/o (L) K Angou of Khurai Thangjam Leikai, Chingangbam Leirak (Victim of the case) was stabbed by the convict/accused at the house of the victim and rushed to JNIMS.

However, the victim was referred to Raj Medicity North AOC for further treatment where succumbed at around 9 pm.

The 10 of the case arrested the convict/accused on the same day of the incident from the spot and during the interrogation the convict /accused admitted that on the day, he had a quarrel with the family members of the deceased on boundary dispute of their homestead land.

On the particular day the convict/accused and family members of deceased had a hot exchange of words.

After the brawl, the convict/accused ran inside his house and came out with a kitchen knife in his right hand stabbed the deceased several times on the chest and belly near the verandah of the victim house with the intention to kill him.

The convict/ accused had also given his statement U/S 164 CrPC before the JMFC/IE wherein, he confessed that he and the victim family had strained relation as the victim's family did not like the convict/accused shifting to the present homestead land and that on the day of the incident, he stabbed the deceased with a kitchen knife.

After the completion of the investigation charge sheet against the convict/ accused was submitted by the IO of the case before the Court under section 302 IPC (Murder) and was registered as Session trial case number 3 of 2017 and the proceedings were initiated against the convict/accused.

After the completion of recording the statement and examination of the witnesses of the trial, final hearing of the case started from September 4.Court heard the submission of PP for the State and Legal Aid counsel in defense of convict/accused at length on September 4 and October 4 respectively.

After hearing both parties the Court convicted the accused under section 302 IPC (Murder) and fixed November 2 for the sentence hearing.
