Thoubal, March 28 2025: A production of 'Ngaprum Tanba' (a peculiar dance form of Kakching Haraoba) was showcased today at the Shanglen of Sangeet Academy, Kakching Sumak organised by the Sangeet Academy, Kakching Sumak Leikai.

It was attended by Dr Nongmaithem Pramodini, Dr Ambedkar Sahityashree National Awardee and president of Macha Chanu, Kakching as chief guest, Kshetri Bir, Sahitya Akademi Awardee and president of Sangeet Academy, Kakching Sumak Leikai as functional president and Kshetri Goddhar, Visiting Guru, JN Manipur Dance Academy Imphal as guest of honour.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Promodini said that Kakching Haraoba is quite distinct from other forms of Umang Lai Haraoba like Kanglei Haraoba, Moirang Haraoba, Chakpa Haraoba, etc.

The "Ngaprum Tanba", a unique dance form which is performed on the last day of Kakching Haraoba is new to many people and many lack awareness of the peculiar dance form." Therefore organising production on such dance forms is a commendable initiative, said Promodini.

Ksh Rajendro, treasurer of Sangeet Academy Kakching Sumak Leikai said that such production was organised with the aim to promote and preserve the rich culture of Manipur.
