Minister Abdul Nasir beats up Cong worker at Sangai Festival

Imphal,November 26, 2012: Taking the visitors to Sangai Festival quite by surprise, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries Md Nasir beat up a Congress worker black and blue in full public view today.

A stall owner who came to the rescue of the Congress worker was also beaten up by the security guards of the Minister.

The incident occurred when the Congress Worker identified as Alam Azad was sitting and enjoying some eatables along with Congress MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Md Amin Shah in one of the stalls.

The duo was also accompanied by RK Dinesh, Director of MOBC; Project Director Md Sallauddin and President of Manipur Youth Congress AR Hussain.

Samir Choudhuri, Manager of "Nepsa Halal Food", a stall run by the Network for Social Advancement, who witnessed the whole scene, told Hueiyen Lanpao that the incident took place in his food stall at around 7:20 pm today.

As they were enjoying food stuffs in his food stall, Minister Md Nasir rushed in along with his security guards shouting "Nang Kayamna Faobage".

Just before the incident, the MLA happened to go out to receive a phone call.

Before anything could be said, the Minister started beating up Alam Azad and told his escorts to arrest him.

Hearing their Master's command, the security guards immediately got hold of Alam Azad and butted him with their guns.

The owner of the stall, Sayed Azad, who went to the rescue of Alam Azad was also beaten up by the escorts of the Minister.

Two persons in civvies, who came along with the Minis ter, also joined in beating up the owner of the stall and the Congress worker.

Both Alam Azad and Sayed Azad sustained serious injuries and were treated at JNIMS.

The victims have lodged a complaint with the Porompat Police Station against Minister Md Nasir and his security guards.

Accordingly, the escort Commander of Minister Md Nasir has been picked up by Porompat Police.

Md Amir Khan and Md Salauddin, two persons who came along with the Minister told Hueiyen Lanpao that the Minister beat up Alam Azad as the latter made a 'serious joke' and mocked at the Minister in front of the public earlier during the day.

Taking serious note over the conduct of Minister Md Nasir, some Congress MLAs have pressed Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam for taking up necessary action.
