Hospitality training programme empowers youth in Manipur's Kakching district

The closing ceremony of the first phase of the Front Desk Office and Homestay Host Training Programme was held on October 24, 2025 at Pallel Garrison in Kakching District, marking a significant milestone in youth empowerment and skill development in Manipur.
The initiative conceptualised and led by Assam Rifles is supported by IIFL Foundation, implemented by REACHA NGO and assessed and certified by TATA Strive.
A total of 46 candidates from Tengnoupal, Kakching and Chandel Districts successfully completed the three-month training programme, which commenced on July 23, 2025 .
The course was designed to equip participants with practical and theoretical knowledge in Front Desk Office Management and Homestay Host Operations, key skill areas in the growing tourism and hospitality sector of the region.
Assam Rifles played a pivotal role throughout the project lifecycle, beginning with a reconnaissance visit in March 2025 to assess regional skill gaps under REACHA's guidance.
Based on these findings, a tailored curriculum was developed and Assam Rifles facilitated the recruitment of qualified trainers, coordinated logistics and provided operational support at Pallel Garrison.
Their continuous engagement with community leaders and youth groups ensured effective mobilisation and full enrolment by mid-July.
The placement outcomes have been encouraging, with 10 candidates being selected for Pride Plaza in Ahmedabad, 8 for Park Inn by Radisson in Surat and another 8 for Sterling properties across various locations.
Additionally, 12 candidates are awaiting final results from Hyatt Centric Goa and Mahindra Holidays Hotels.
A total of three batches are scheduled to be trained under this initiative by March 2026.With 22 troops and officials From Assam Rifles involved in the successful execution of the programme, the initiative reflects Assam Rifles' enduring commitment to fostering peace, development and self-reliance among the youth of Manipur.
