AMACSU confers awards to 26 artists, journalist on 27th Foundation Day

The All Manipur Arts and Culture Students' Union (AMACSU) celebrated its 27th Foundation Day at the JNMDA Auditorium Hall here today, honouring26 eminent personalities with the Athouba Lamjing Lamtak AMACSU Award.
Among the recipients was The Sangai Express chief reporter Ahongshangbam Dilipkumar.
The award, given for distinguished service in journalism and various art forms, included a lengyan, citation, and cash prize.
JNMDA Director P Bilash attended as chief guest, Arts & Culture Joint Director G Dharmadas Sharma and MSKA awardee Th Sudhir as guests of honour, and AMACSU president and MSKA Young Talent awardee S Abung Sharma presided.

The programme opened with a 'Pena' recital.
Speaking on the occasion, Bilash said the Government is exploring ways to secure the future of arts students, noting past efforts to introduce martial arts in education were stalled by administrative changes.
He added that the Chief Minister had suggested incorporating 'Jagoi', 'Eshei', Nat Sankirtan.
and Thang-Ta into education, and assured further follow-up.
G Dharmadas stressed the need for research and assessment of Manipur's cultural traditions to address existing gaps and guide future development.
Abung Sharma said the union, formed on May 26, 1999, by students of JNMDA, Government Dance College, Bal Mukunda Dev Music College, and Imphal Art College, was created to voice issues facing the arts sector.
He said AMACSU annually honours artists above 60 and organises competitions on Nupi Lal Numit, Ningtam Numit, and Khongjom Day to promote patriotism and preserve art forms.
