Bishnupur, April 21 2025: Under Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur for Technical Support & Extension, the Sangai Organic Farming Producer Company in collaboration with Kanglei Farmers' Welfare Society Manipur organised an outreach programme for farmers on plantation of Black Rice (Chak-Hao) under contract farming.

It was attended by Department of Agriculture, Govt of Manipur, Nodal Officer Kh Nimai.

Retd Agronomy Department of Agriculture, L Sanatomba, Department of Agriculture, field assistant W Nipendra, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bishnupur (KVK) SMS Home Science, Bandana Ningombam, Kanglei Farmers' Welfare Society Manipur secretary, S Sharatchandra Sharma and Sangai Organic Fanning Producer Company chairman, Kh Samusaba as presidium members.

Speaking at the event, KVK Bishnupur SMS Home Science, Bandana Ningombam said that Black Rice (Chak-Hao) if consumed daily can prevent various diseases and urged the people to consume daily for the nutritional value instead of consuming it as occasional food during rituals and festivals.

Chairman of Sangai Organic Farmers's Producer Company, Kh Samusaba urged the farmers to start cultivating Chak-Hao in mass production since it has high demand in the market, so as to increase their income.

The event was also attended by various farmers of Bishnupur and Kakching District.

Registration to apply for farmer's card was also done during the programme.
