Chandel launches advocacy programme on Child Rights and related Acts

The District Administration Chandel and District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), in collaboration with the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Chandel, launched a two-day advocacy and awareness programme on Child Rights and related Acts at the Multipurpose Hall, Mini Secretariat, Chandel on Thursday.
The inaugural function was attended by Md Firoz Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chandel, as chief guest; Babuna Dangmei, DCPO Chandel as functional president; and ZEO Chandel Hrangbung Starson Anal and CWC Chandel chairperson Th Rengthang Wonto as guests of honour.
Delivering the keynote address, DCPO Chandel stressed that the programme was organised mainly for school teachers and faculty members, who play a vital role in shaping and nurturing children.

He highlighted the importance of equipping teachers with a proper understanding of Child Rights to ensure safe and supportive surroundings.
He also spoke on national schemes such as Mission Vatsalya and underlined the principle of innocence, reminding everyone to treat children with love and care.
ZEO Hrangbung Starson Anal emphasised that every child, regardless of background or social status, has rights that must be respected and protected.
He urged teachers and educators to act as role models in promoting children's welfare and upholding the values enshrined in laws related to child protection.
Chief guest, Md Firoz Khan reiterated that children are the future of the nation and highlighted four key Acts that safeguard child rights and welfare that aim to overcome various hindrances in their lives.
He encouraged the participants to maximise their learning during the sessions and apply it effectively.
The programme featured technical sessions led by experts including Th Rengthang Wonto, CWC Chandel chairperson; Khaidem Premjit Singh, Legal cum PO of DCPU Chandel; and Damgam Khaling, member secretary CWC Tengnoupal.
The sessions were followed by open discussions with active participation from teachers, principals, and NGO representatives.
