Meanwhile, in a press meet held at BJP's Nityaipat Chuthek office on Thursday, party spokesperson MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha said that the delimitation exercise should be carried out only after the illegal immigrants are properly identified.
He continued that there are many immigrants enrolled in the electoral role and the delimitation exercise would be useless without verifying the same, adding that the centre is keeping a close eye on the influx of illegal immigrants and taking up steps to stop the same.
The party also held a meeting and decided to form a committee with regard to the delimitation, he conveyed.
BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary K Saratkumar said that in support of the resolution of the all political parties against conduct of delimitation exercise based on the 2001 census, the party had also stood firm against the delimitation exercise.
Any delimitation exercise should be carried out after correcting the demographic imbalance in the state, he asserted.
