Imphal, September 22 2023:
Although the court on Friday granted bail to all five village volunteers who were arrested by police on September 16 from Kongba, one of the volunteers was re-arrested by police immediately, thereby testifying hidden agenda of the government, said Langthabal Kendra Clubs' Coordinating Committee president Yumnam Hitler.
In a joint press meet of the Committee, Langthabal Kendra Meira Paibi Coordinating Committee, All Kongba Road United Clubs' Organisation, Kuraomak hong United Club, Sagolband Apunba Lup, and Khurai Ahongei Thangjam Leikai Club and Meira Paibi at Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai community hall on Friday, Hitler said that following the arrest of the five volunteers on September 16, a 48-hour bandh was imposed all over Manipur.
However, the government paid no need to the bandh, prompting the people to launch 'mass court arrest' agitation in front of all nearby police stations.
On Friday, the court granted bail to all five volunteers.
However, one of the volunteers was rearrested immediately, which is something the people needs to question.
The only explanation is that there is hidden agenda of the government at play.
The government's actions are unforgivable at all levels, he maintained.
The Committee president continued that since the government is adamant to track down and arrest volunteers, it should also shoulder the responsibility of defending the integrity of Manipur.
Other than that, the government's actions are an invitation for civil war, he remarked.
Thus, Hitler informed that a public meeting would be held at Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai community hall at 1 pm on Saturday, which will be attended by two representatives each from all state CSOs, to discuss on the future course of action.
Clarifying that aforementioned bodies are not involved in the vandalism of the residences of some police officers on Thursday, he extended condolences and shared the grievances of all those who injured due to the excessive forces used by police and other security forces during the protests.
