Oldest native of Chumbang passes away

Pi Late Thao Shenem Chothe, one of the oldest woman who had lived the longest in the history of Chumbang in Chandel district passed away today morning at 4.30 am.
She was 106 .
Pi Late Thao Shenem Chothe was the daughter of Pu Late Thao Roungir Chothe and Pi Late Makan Nishahoi Chothe.
She was born in 1917, said a statement.
She had a challenging upbringing as she was born during the period of conflict in India.
She converted to Christianity in 1941 and demonstrated her yield and faith and was instrumental in bringing the people of Chumbang to the new faith in Jesus Christ.
She will always be remembered as a spirit-filled woman and one of the successful mothers in Chumbang.
She was the wife of Late Pu Khiang Halring Chothe, Pioneer of Chumbang Baptist Church and they were the first couple to have a Christian wedding in Chumbang.
