Imphal/Kakching, May 29 2025:
Parts of Imphal have been waterlogged amid the incessant rainfall over the past few days, while Nambul and Nambol rivers are flowing at warning level.
The water levels of rivers in Chandel and Kakching are also on the rise.
Sagolband Moirang Leirak and Kakwa Asem Leikai have been inundated, causing serious inconveniences to both vehicular and pedestrian movement.
Meanwhile, as per a report, the Imphal River was flowing below the reading level in Minuthong around 10am Thursday and as such, the situation is not worrisome.

However, Nambul River is flowing at warning level.
As per the reading at Thong Nambonbi, the warning level and the flood level of the River is 781.175 metres and 781.175 metres above mean sea level respectively.
At president, Nambul River is flowing at 781 metres.
Nambol River (warning level 772.7 metres and flood level 773.7 metres) is also flowing at 772.225 metres.
The water level of Ithai Barrage is also above flood level but all its gates are still closed.
For Imphal Barrage, three out of four gates have been opened.
Shamushang Regulator has also been fully opened while one gate of Thoubal Barrage has been opened.
The water level of Iril and Thoubal rivers are yet to be of concern.
The water level of Loktak Lake has also increased over the past few days.
The water level of the Lake is controlled by Ithai Barrage.
Although all five shutters of the Barrage are overflowing, they are still closed.

On Wednesday morning, the water level of the Barrage was 769.42 metres and recorded at 769.61 metres late afternoon, which is slightly above the overflowing level of 769.30 metres.
The general manager in-charge of NHPC visited the Barrage and said that the shutters would be opened after consulting with the manager.
Meanwhile, as per reports from the area, although the water level has risen, the fish farms, paddy fields and property are unaffected and the river banks have not breached.
However, if the rain continues and the shutters remain closed, the nearby areas could get flooded.
On the other hand, the water levels of the rivers flowing through Chandel and Kakching district are on the rise.
The Maha River in Chandel district is flowing at danger level.
An old suspension bridge connecting Khuringmul and Khuningling villages had been dismantled and replaced with an RCC bridge, which is under construction.
As movement of the villagers necessitates wading through the river, rise in the water level has prevented them from crossing the same.
Efforts are underway for a makeshift bridge made from bamboos to connect the two villages.
The Chakpi River is also stated to be flowing in full-spate.
In Kakching district, water overflowing from the Shengmai River is has started to flood paddy fields located at the end portion of the river in Wabagai Terapishak.
However, there is no flood warning for the nearby areas.
The two gates of Sekmai Barrage in Keirak have also been opened.
As per data from the IMD's Meteorological Centre in Imphal, the border town of Moreh recorded the highest rainfall on Thursday with 102 mm, followed by Kamjong (96 mm), Chandel (76 mm), and Ukhrul (60.8 mm) .
Though rivers and streams in the hill districts are reportedly rising, there have been no major incidents or casualties reported at the time of filing this report.
It is worth noting that Manipur had faced three rounds of flooding since Cyclone Remal hit the region in late May last year.
