Imphal, January 29 2026:
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has capped airfares on Imphal-connected routes, responding to public outrage over skyrocketing ticket prices and reduced flight connectivity amidst the State's ongoing crisis.
The Ministry's action was also prompted by persistent appeals from one Asem Roshan Singh.
Asem Roshan first submitted a representation to the President of India on November 29, 2025 .
The representation underscored that due to the continued inaccessibility of National Highways NH-2 and NH-37, air travel had become the sole unavoidable mode of access for essential services like healthcare and education.
The initial grievance was transferred to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on December 4, 2025 .
The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) responded by acknowledging the severe humanitarian difficulties but clarified that airfare regulation was outside its jurisdiction.
A renewed representation was submitted on December 20, 2025, seeking intervention from the appropriate civil aviation authorities.
According to the official status recorded on the Rashtrapati Bhavan Helpline, the grievance was disposed of on January 28, 2026, with the case details confirming that airfares have been capped by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
This recorded action marked a significant administrative outcome for Manipur residents facing essential mobility challenges due to the ongoing transport disruptions.
