BJP worker points out various lapses and loopholes, MLA assures swift actions

Imphal, July 24 2019: Former president of UCM, Elangbam Johnson who recently joined the BJP, has urged the MLA of Keishamthong AC not to resort to playing blame game whenever dissatisfaction arises among the people of the AC.

Speaking to media persons at his residence at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai under Keishamthong AC today, Johnson stated that the people of the Constituency have been facing numerous issues as a result of the disorganised system when it comes to initiating developmental activities for the AC, which is located in the urban circle, for a long time.

He remarked that it is not right for the MLA concerned to resort to confrontation and blame game whenever the people express dissatisfaction in the loopholes as well as the insufficiencies of development in the Constituency.

Alleging that the roads in Keishamthong AC are in poor conditions as the concerned representative has allegedly failed to take up systematic developmental works, he remarked that the roads often develop cracks as the drains were constructed far before repairing the roads, which leads to the drains overflowing during rainy season and water seeping inside the black topping thus ruining the road even if it is properly black- topped.

He also conveyed that the people are not happy with the digging up of roads for the purpose of installing water pipelines.

It has become a great hurdle to find out the eligible health card holders under Socio Economic Caste Census (SECC), he said and added that it is the responsibility of the authority concerned to clarify on this matter at the earliest.

On the other hand, Keishamthong AC MLA, L Jayantakumar, yesterday, had stated that several developmental activities are being taken up in the Constituency and had also assured that numerous works which are still pending, owing to the unpredictable weather condition, will also be completed at the earliest.

Speaking to media persons at the Minister's headquarters at Babupara, yesterday, Jayantakumar stated that after some individuals of a political party in the AC started questioning the progress of development in the AC, the matter has been deliberated among the people of the Constituency.

Expressing happiness that the people are discussing the matter, the MLA asserted that he feels that Keishamthong AC is less progressive when compared to other Constituencies.

However, people need to really mull on why the Constituency is not developing, he added.

Alleging that many representatives who emerged from the Constituency in the past did not really accomplish/finish any developmental works in the AC, the MLA maintained that the representatives could not also finish the works as their tenure ended early and now all the unfinished business have hindered the Constituency preventing it from moving forward.

He went on to state that several works have been accomplished under his directive in the AC and assured that he will strive for swift completion of the pending works as well.

Conveying that the Constituency still faces several insufficiencies including proper roads, drains etc, he remarked that in order to combat these issues, he has undertaken the initiative to renovate roads including black-topping and added that he is planning to finish other works as well.

However, the unpredictable weather condition has hindered the work progress, he asserted.

Claiming that water pipes have been lined up for Keishampat Thiyam Leikai, Hodam Leirak and Thouda Bhabok Leikai, Jayantakumar said that necessary labourers have been arranged to start the black topping works for the AC as soon as the monsoon season passes.

He further stated that the work of replacing broken pipes is likely to finish next month and expressed hope that all the household in the AC will be able to get running water at their homes by the domestic water pipes if the replacing work is completed.

The MLA maintained that he also has plans to black top small roads/Leiraks for the AC, which are not even included under PMGSY, from his MLA Local Area Development Fund.

Earlier, the MLA distributed tailoring machines, embroidery machines and GI sheets, under MOBC scheme, to 40 beneficiaries of the AC who had applied for the scheme.
