Senapati, May 20 2026:
All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) has strongly condemned the recentpress communique issued by the Kuki Students' Organisation General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ), terming it a deliberate attempt to legitimise inflammatory rhetoric and manipulated narratives circulated through social mediaplatforms.
In a statement, ANSAM categorically repudiated the KSO-GHQ's defence of assertions allegedly propagated by one Tony Singsit through a widely circulated YouTube interview and its amplification across social media platforms.
The student body alleged that the KSO-GHQ statement sought to portray fabricated and misleading remarks as "factual, evidence-based and credible," which it described as a calculated exercise in selective distortion and narrative manipulation.
ANSAM maintained that no amount of "rhetorical embellishment and orchestrated virality" could transform misinformation into historical truth.
It further termed the KSO-GHQ's attempts to characterise public objections raised by Naga civil society organisations and student bodies as "baseless attacks" as unfortunate and unbecoming.
The association stated that the clarification issued by the president of Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) against the alleged false narratives of Tony Singsit arose from a moral and social obligation to counter misleading narratives targeting the Naga people and institutions.
According to ANSAM, the KSO-GHQ communique exposed contradictions by claiming adherence to factual objectivity while simultaneously making divisive accusations against the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) and other Naga institutions without verifiable substantiation.
The association further alleged that attempts to weaponise digital platforms and communal sensitivities for "narrative warfare" were detrimental to peaceful coexistence, democratic civility and inter-community relations.
ANSAM appealed to the public, civil society organisations and both the State and Central Governments to reject what it described as orchestrated attempts to communalise public narratives and malign the dignity of the Naga people through misinformation and politically motivated propaganda.
Expressing grave concern over the uncertainty surrounding six Naga civilians allegedly abducted on May 13, 2026, the student body urged both the State and Central Governments to undertake sincere and uncompromising measures to ensure their safe recovery.
Simultaneously, ANSAM appealed to the concerned Kuki groups and militants to immediately and unconditionally release the hostages if they remain alive and under captivity.
The association further stated that in the event of any irreparable harm, the mortal remains of the victims should be handed over respectfully to enable their families and communities to perform the last rites and burial ceremonies with dignity.
