Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0 launched in Imphal West

Under the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), the District Tobacco Control Cell, District Health Mission Society, Imphal West, organised the launching programme of Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0 at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Imphal West.
The campaign was formally launched by Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, in the presence of the Chief Medical Officer, Imphal West, and other District Level Officers.
During the programme, A Dinesh Sharma, District Nodal Officer, District Tobacco Control Cell (NTCP), Imphal West, highlighted the harmful effects of tobacco and outlined the key strategies of the campaign as follows: Escalate public awareness on the harmful effects of tobacco; Enhance compliance of Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions (ToFEI); Endeavour to declare tobacco-free villages; Strengthen enforcement of Cigarettes & Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003 and Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA) 2019; Amplify social media engagement to reach wider youth audiences; Capacity building to strengthen tobacco control initiatives.
As part of the IEC activities, a rally was flagged off by the DC, Imphal West, from DC Office to Ram Krishna Mission School, Uripok.
Participants raised slogans such as "Tobacco free starts with me," "Say it loud, tobacco's out", "Quit tobacco today, live young tomorrow" and "Tobacco causes cancer".
The rally saw active participation from ASHA workers, NCC Cadets of the Air Squadron, My Bharat volunteers, District Programme Management Unit, Block Programme Management Unit, and health staff.
The event concluded with an awareness talk held at Ram Krishna Mission Auditorium.
