Imphal, May 17 2010:
Dismayed with the policy of the KNO/KNA, Lenin H Kuki, the outfit's cabinet member and information and publicity secretary has defected to the UKLF.
Speaking to media persons at a location in Chandel district this morning, UKLF's information and publicity secretary JM Zou extended warm welcome to Lenin H Kuki.
JM Zou said that the UKLF has its door wide open for all those who believe in re-unification.
He also called upon all Kuki groups under Suspension of Operation pact to give up parochial feelings and work in the nation's interest with unity.
He also espoused peaceful co-existence under an atmopshere of normalcy without any disturbance to the Kuki people.
Accusing the KNO/KNA of extorting from people, JM Zou alleged that the KNO deducted several crores of rupees from the compensation amount which should be distributed to pattadars affected by the Integrated Check Post at Moreh.
He also appreciated the move of Lenin H Kuki leaving KNO to join UKLF.
Speaking at the press meet, Lenin H Kuki said that the KNA had been instrumental in divisive ethnic politics creating animosity and ill-feelings amongst diverse ethnic communities of North East India since its inception with the patronage of RAW and Indian security forces.
Devoid of any revolutionary spirit, the KNO has nexus with certain power mongers and has been actively participating in Indian electoral politics for candidates of their own choice and family.
People started looking the KNO/KNA with suspicion after it signed the SoO pact without consulting their counterpart UPF, not to mention about civil societies.
The immediate outcome of SoO for the KNO was mushrooming of armed groups based on clans and tribes just for the sake of numbers within the KNO fold.
Lenin H Kuki further asserted that many cadres were disillusioned and defected to other parties because of immoral and luxurious lifestyles led by leaders in cities and towns and misuse of funds.
