Many pay homage to State's freedom fighters on Patriots' Day

Joining the Statewide observation of Patriots' Day, different students union, Govt institutes, organisations also offered homage to the freedom fighter of Manipur.
Students Union of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal observed Patriots' Day at the Priyogopalsana Auditorium of the academy.
A press release issued by general secretary of JNMDA Student Union stated that about 150 individuals (artistes, Gurus, staff and stu dents of the academy participated.
L Upendro Sharma, Director JNMDA and RK Nabindra Singh, Pradhan Guru, JNMDA attended the occasion as chief guest and president respectively.
It added that the academy has been organising such ceremony for the past 20 years.
Floral tributes were paid to the heroes of Manipur who valiantly fought and sacrificed their lives fighting the British regime during the Anglo-Manipuri war.
Several speakers of the function stressed on the significance of Patriots' Day, Meanwhile, The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal also observed Patriots' Day at the New Examination Hall, RIMS Imphal.
Director RIMS Imphal, Professor A Santa Singh, Medical Superintendent RIMS Hospital, Professor Ch Arunkumar Singh, Dean i Academic), professor Ak Joy Singh, participants of Dental College, College of Nursing officials, staff and students paid floral tributes to the freedom fighters of Manipur, conveyed a press release issued by RIMS Imphal media advisor.
A Santa, while speaking on the occasion, conveyed that the occasion reminds the people of the forefathers and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the motherland.
They believed in freedom and fought bravely against the might of the British empire.
The participants pledged to stand together and fight against all who challenge the freedom and integrity of the State and the Nation.
Biken Yaikhom of the institute spoke on the background of the observance of the day across the State.
Later, a social service was also held on August 12, under the supervision of Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital Professor Ch Arunkumar Singh , in the campus along with Manipur Security Services, Centre for Research on Environment Development (CRED) and staff of the institute.
On the other hand, All Manipur Medical Students' Association (AMMSA) RIMS organised a free medical camp at Leimakon Women's Abode Complex, also known as Poirei Nawakon, to mark the observation of Patriots' Day.
RIMS Psychiatry Department Professor and Head as well as AMMSA advisor Dr RK Lenin and Meitei Leimarol Sinnai Shang president MC Reeta attended the observation as presidium members.
Floral tributes were also paid to the photos of freedom fighters of Manipur, Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General.
Another union, The North Imphal Students' Union (NISU) paid homage to the photos of martyrs of the State to mark the observation of Patriots' Day at Pukhao Naharup Makha Leikai Community Hall.
Students of different schools, local people and ward members were present in the observation.
Various cultural programmes, poetry recitation etc were also presented by the student community, conveyed a press release issued by general secretary of NISU.
Patriots' Day was also observed by Bharat Swabhiman (Trust) and Patanjali Yog Samiti, Imphal West District and Malon Tulihal Awang Leikai Patanjali Yoga Centre at Malom Tulihal Awang Leikai Community Hall.
Dignitaries, Yoga lovers and players of the Trust/ Samiti of Imphal West paid tribute to the heroes of Manipur, conveyed a press release issued by Zilla Prabhari, Bharat Swabhiman (Trust), Imphal West District.
Patriotic poems recitation and songs were also presented by Yoga players of the Centre.
Meanwhile, Joint Students' Coordination Committee (JSCC) Manipur organised Patriots' Day at the jubilee hall of DM College of Sciences today.
JSCC convenor Ngariyanbam Milan, Committee of Human Rights chairman Phulindro Konsam, Imphal College Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, RK Itocha, chairman of Human Rights Defenders, Manipur, Joy Chingakham and president of IPSA, Joy Konthoujam attended the event as the presidium members.
All Manipur Muslims (Meitei Pangal) Welfare Association (AMPWA) Imphal observed Patriots' Day at Minuthong Hatta today as well.
Retd IAS Janab AR Khan, retd IAS Janab MA Sattar,, retd IAS Mufti Siraj Ahmed, Principal, Darul Uloom, Markaz Haoreibi, Mufti Safiullah, secretary, Jamiat-Ulema Hind, Manipur branch, Janab Akhtar Hussain, vice president AMPWA and Abdus Salam, secretary general AMPWA as well as advisors, presidents and secretaries of leading Muslim CSOs, members of CEC, AMPWA and members of Minuthong Hatta Social Welfare Club attended the event.
Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangha Imphal Jilla organised Patriots' Day at Imphal Sporting Club community hall, Uripok Khwai Brahamapur (opposite Cheirap Court) today.
The event was graced by Th Naranbabu Singh, Imphal Jilla Sanghachalak, Professor Hijam Tombi Singh (retd VC, Manipur University), Professor N Joykumar Singh (red HoD, History, MU) as presidium members.
