Mother's Day celebrated across Manipur with community outreach and honouring of mothers

International Mother's Day was celebrated across different parts of Manipur through a series of community outreach programmes, awareness activities and felicitation events organised by security forces and local organisations, highlighting the spirit of motherhood, social harmony and community bonding.
According to a release issued by IGAR (South), personnel of the Assam Rifles organised special Mother's Day celebrations with Meira Paibis, often referred to as the "Mothers of Manipur", at Nambol in Bishnupur district on May 10.The programme honoured the role of Meira Paibis as torchbearers of peace and social harmony in society.

Recreational activities including musical chairs and volleyball matches were organised with participation from both Meira Paibis and Assam Rifles personnel, symbolising unity, trust and cordial civil-military relations.
One of the emotional moments of the programme was when the Meira Paibis blessed Assam Rifles personnel by placing their hands on their heads like their own sons.
The event concluded with participants standing together holding glowing mashaals as a symbol of peace and communal harmony.
Continuing the celebration, Assam Rifles also organised a Mother's Day programme at Waikhong in Kakching district on May 11.The event featured a sapling plantation drive carried out jointly with local mothers to promote environmental sustainability and symbolise the nurturing spirit of motherhood.
Interactive sessions focusing on community welfare and peace-building were also conducted, while recreational games created an atmosphere of joy and togetherness.
Both events reportedly witnessed participation of over 120 individuals, including Meira Paibis, local residents and Assam Rifles personnel.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army also organised a series of outreach programmes across Bishnupur district and Mission Veng on May 10 and 11 to commemorate International Mother's Day and strengthen ties with local communities.
At the Sericulture Relief Camp in Kwakta, Hautak and Siden villages in Bishnupur district, various activities promoting community participation and social harmony were organised.
A drawing competition themed "Canvas of Love" was held at Hautak with participation of around 30 children in different age categories.
Recreational events including sack race, jalebi race, musical chairs and spoon race were also organised for children at Siden village, creating a cheerful and festive atmosphere.
A special programme themed "Mother - The First Guide" was organised at the Sericulture Relief Camp, witnessing participation of nearly 250 women and local residents.
The event included interactive games, women empowerment sessions and community interaction programmes.
Iron folic acid tablets, calcium supplements and multivitamins were also distributed to women participants, while refreshments were arranged for attendees.
In another initiative, the Red Shield Division under the Indian Army's Spear Corps organised a Mother's Day celebration at Mission Veng on May 11 .
The event featured games and interactive activities for mothers and children, encouraging community bonding and participation.
The programmes concluded with prize distribution ceremonies for winners of various competitions and activities.
The initiatives were widely appreciated by local residents and reflected the Indian Army's commitment towards promoting goodwill, social harmony and stronger community relations in the region.
In a separate event, Ladies Moral and Development Organisation observed International Mother's Day at Thangalawai Sabal Mayai Leikai yesterday and honoured exemplary mothers by presenting gifts and awards.
The programme held at Thangalawai Sabal Mayai Leikai Mandop was attended by several dignitaries including L Bimol, Asst Field Officer at the PMO Office, Administrative Committee Kha Thinungei GP chairman O Rameshwar Meitei, social worker Ch Lukhoi, along with Kh Lakshman and O Kumar as presidium members.
As part of its annual observance of Mother's Day, the organisation introduced a "Exemplary Mother Award" for the first time this year.
The award, sponsored by Chongtham Sital Singh in memory of his grandmother Chongtham Ongbi Keinya, was presented to Oinam Ongbi Gomti of Thangalawai Sabal Mayai Leikai.
Speakers at the programme highlighted the importance of mothers in shaping society and shared messages promoting moral values, unity and social responsibility.
