Movement of heavy vehicles to be prohibited along Yairipok-Azad Golai to Keithelmanbi road

Imphal, April 02 2025:
Protesting against the failure of the concerned authority to renovate the Yairipok-Azad Golai to Keithelmanbi road, a public meeting held today at Yairipok Yambem Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi Laibung community hall has resolved to prohibit the movement of heavy vehicles along the road stretch from 6 pm of April 3 .
The public meeting attended by clubs, organizations, meira paibis, Zilla Parishads and Gram Panchayats from Laimanai to Keithelmanbi also constituted Laimanai to Keithelmanbi Road Development Organisa tion with the appointment of eleven executive members.
The prohibition will be in effect until the responsible authority initiates repair work of the road stretch.
The meeting also resolved to launch intense forms of agitation if their demand is not met within five days.
At the meeting, Asem Ibetombi Leima, president, Apunba Nupi Khunnai Lamjing Meira Lup, Imphal East Yairipok-1 highlighted the hardships faced by the local residents due to the poor condition of the road stretch.
Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting on behalf of the people, Sh Tomba Sharma pointed out the remaining resolutions passed at the public meet, including, mounting pressure and appealing to the relevant department to expedite the renovation of the road stretch and taking future decisions on the matter in consultation with all clubs, organisations.

Attendees present at the public meeting include Md Yunush, chairperson, Changamdabi ZP; Md Imran Shah, Senjam Devan and Shyam Singh, chairpersons of Administrative Committees of Changamdabi, Top-Chingtha and Yambem GP and Ishaque Kori, convenor, All Changamdabi Clubs Coordinating Committee among others.
