The BJP MLAs who attended the meeting agreed to put aside personal ambitions in the larger interest of the State, its people, the vision of BJP and its alliance partners in Manipur.
It was said that the meeting was held to send a clear message to the Centre that there is no difference among the MLAs on the formation of a popular Government.
One of the BJP MLAs suggested that the BJP Manipur Pradesh president be asked to convene a meeting of all BJP MLAs at the party office and adopt a concrete decision to urge the Centre for installation of a popular Government in Manipur.
Acting on the suggestion, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda was contacted immediately and she was appealed to convene a meeting of the party MLAs.
Subsequently, the BJP Manipur Pradesh president has convened a meeting of BJP MLAs at the party office at 11 am on May 31.The meeting scheduled tomorrow may take a concrete decision on the formation of a popular Government.
In light of the prevailing issues and the deeply distressing developments, the BJP legislators also deliberated on their collective responsibility in restoring peace, stability and normalcy in the State.
"As elected representatives, we are united in our firm belief that a long-term solution to the crisis is both possible and necessary.
Such a solution must rest on the pillars of political will, inclusive dialogue, constitutional safeguards and impartial enforcement of law and order", they said.
They maintained that this journey of finding a long term solution to the crisis must be undertaken in close cooperation between the Centre, the State, civil society and community leaders.
The meeting examined mechanisms for inclusive dialogue involving representatives of all communities in Manipur.
The BJP MLAs also expressed support to establishment of a neutral dialogue platform to facilitate constructive mediation between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities, aimed at building trust and consensus on critical issues.
With regard to the Gwaltabi incident on May 20, 2025, the BJP legislators urged the Government to talk with media persons and CSOs to find an amicable and honourable understanding.
They also assured full cooperation to any endeavour towards this end.
The meeting also considered the feasibility of formally approaching the Governor and Central leadership to appoint a neutral peace envoy or a panel of eminent persons, comprising voices from both within and outside Manipur.
Such a body, operating with the full support of the Union Government and State administration, would play a vital role in facilitating impartial mediation and bridging the trust deficit among communities, the MLAs remarked.
The BJP MLAs emphasised the critical importance of inter-community people to people dialogue at the grassroots level, involving local governance institutions, civil society groups, student bodies and religious organisations.
This will lay the foundation for healing, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, they said.
The meeting further discussed the operational limitations of the current administrative set-up and the MLAs underscored the need for Central paramilitary forces and State forces to act with strict neutrality.
They reiterated the urgency for a well monitored effort to recover looted weapons and disarm people, both in the hills and the valley.
