BJP MLAs present united face

A joint meeting of the BJP MLAs was held today at the party office at Keishampat Nityaipat Chuthek and thus presented a united front to form a new popular Government in the State.
The meeting chaired by BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda was attended by 22 MLAs of the party, barring the seven MLAs belonging to the Kuki-Zo-Hmar communities.
Eight other BJP MLAs intimated the party president about their inability to attend the meeting due to medical reasons and other unavoidable circumstances.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting which started at 5 pm and lasted for 40 minutes, A Sharda said that she presented a report of her recent meeting with BJP National leaders on the current issues and the common wishes of the BJP MLAs.
"In line with the collective desire of the people of Manipur, I urged the BJP National leaders to install a popular Government in the State at the earliest", Sharda said.
The sporadic unwanted incidents witnessed in the State including the Gwaltabi incident where an MST bus was forced to conceal/erase the word "Manipur" painted on its front were also raised with the Central leaders, she said.
On being enquired if the party has any information about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's possible visit to the State, the BJP Manipur Pradesh president said that they have not yet received any official intimation about Narendra Modi's visit to the State.
She said that the people need to play a big role in installing a popular Government and appealed to all sections of people to cooperate with the Government's efforts to bring peace and normalcy in the State.
Ex-Chief Minister N Biren said that the joint meeting has sent a signal that the BJP MLAs are ready to form a popular Government.
He exuded confidence that peace would be restored and there will be a popular Government in the State shortly.
The meeting held today deliberated on how to restore peace and form a popular Government, Biren said.
He remarked that the meeting scheduled on June 30 between officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs and a joint delegation of AMUCO, COCOMI and FOCS is a positive development.
Thanga AC MLA Tongbram Robindro said that A Sharda conveyed to the MLAs what BJP Central leaders including BJP National president JP Nadda told her about formation of a popular Government in the State.
Some other BJP MLAs too claimed that today's meeting sent a strong message to the Centre about their readiness to form a popular Government.
They went on to claim that a popular Government may be formed in the State before the forthcoming Parliament session commences on July 21.Meanwhile, sources informed that Speaker Th Satyabrata and some BJPs MLAs from the valley may talk with the party's MLAs belonging to Kuki-Zo-Hmar communities at Guwahati soon on the formation of a popular Government.
Apart from Speaker Th Satyabrata, ex-CM N Biren and Tongbram Robindro, the meeting was attended by Th Biswajit (Thongju AC), Y Khemchand (Singjamei AC), Dr S Ranjan (Konthoujam AC), H Dingo (Sekmai AC), Kongkham Robindro (Mayang Imphal AC), Karam Shyam (Langthabal AC), Dr Y Radheshyam (Hiyanglam AC), Sapam Kunjakeshor (Patsoi AC), RK Imo (Sagolband AC), Kh Joykisan (Thangmeiband AC), Kh Raghumani (Uripok AC), Kh Ibomcha (Lamlai AC), Paonam Brojen (Wangjing-Tentha AC), L Rameshwor (Keirao AC), Md Ashab Uddin (Jiribam AC), Govindas Konthoujam (Bishnupur AC), S Rajen (Lamsang AC), Th Shyamkumar (Andro AC) and S Premchandra (Kumbi AC) .
The eight MLAs who were not present at the meeting included Dr Th Radheshyam (Heirok AC), Th Basantakumar (Nambol AC), Dr Usham Deben (Wabagai AC), S Kebi Devi (Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC), L Susindro (Khurai AC), SS Olish (Chandel AC) and Th Arunkumar (Wangkhei AC) .
