Huge amount of drugs seized, 2 arrested

Imphal, April 26 2025: Security forces seized a large quantity of contraband narcotics and psychotropic substances and arrested two individuals during separate search operations conducted in Thoubal district on Friday.

According to a statement from the police control room, security forces conducted a search at the residence of one Wangmayum Barul Alam at Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Darul Uloom Makha under Lilong police station.

During the operation, 3.9 kg of brown sugar, seven soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing about 12 grams each, an additional 0.53 grams of brown sugar, seven bottles of codeine syrup of 100 ml each, and seven mobile phones were recovered from the house.

Wangmayum Barul Alam was arrested on the spot, and all the recovered items were seized.

Following Alam's arrest, a follow-up operation was launched at the residence of Yangkhubam Hafi of Darul Uloom Makha, also under Lilong police station.

During the house search, police recovered Rs 1,14,220 in cash suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, 44 SP capsules, two strips containing seven N10 tablets, two strips containing 20 diazepam tablets, and two bottles of codeine syrup.

Police said that both individuals are being interrogated to identify others involved in the illegal drug network.
