Violence against women is a serious setback to progress of the State as well as families.
It also causes serious disturbances to the social tranquillity.
Given the rising trend of violence against women, the Government need to formulate a specific policy with separate budget allocation for its implementation in order to effectively check violence against women.
There is growing need to provide relief and rehabilitation to victims of violence against women, Subita added.
Notably, November 25 is observed as International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women across the world.
Moreover, International Fortnight Against Violence on Women is observed from November 25 to December 10 every year.
