The Committee on Protection of Meetei Victims' Moreh (COPMeV) has sought intervention of the Supreme Court Judges who visited the State today so that the Meitei/Meetei people displaced from Moreh can resettle at the border town at the earliest.
In a memorandum submitted today, COPMeV appealed to the panel of Supreme Court Judges to take up steps so that the Meitei community can resettle at their homes at Moreh and resume their respective works/professions/businesses.
It appealed to the Judges to take up necessary measures for free movement from Imphal to Moreh by road by any community, specially Meiteis.
To direct the concerned authorities of the State as well as the Central Government for giving adequate compensation to the victims of the conflict for the loss of properties was another demand placed before the SC Judges by COPMeV.
It also appealed to provide sufficient securities in order to protect the homesteads and properties of Meitei people at Moreh.
The memorandum sought deployment of both Central and State security forces in between Pallel and Moreh for every 3/4 Kms to protect innocent people of all communities.
Allocation of an IRB battalion at Moreh to safeguard the public and their properties from any kind of untoward incidents in future and replacement of Assam Rifles by any other Central force was another appeal made by COPMeV in their memorandum.
It said that people have lost their faith in Assam Rifles.
