Imphal, November 20 2024:
Even as the autopsies of the six women and children have been completed at Silchar Medical College, their mortal remains have not yet been brought to Jiribam.
The remains of the six including a toddler were brought to the Silchar Medical College after they were fished out of a river.
The autopsies have been completed but the results/reports have not been released yet.
Sources said people of Jiribam are likely to hold a meeting to bring back the remains to Jiribam for last rites.
The six are likely to be buried together.
Notably, the six women and children were abducted and taken hostage by Kuki militants who attacked a police station at Jiribam's Jakuradhor housing internally displaced people on November 11 .

The six include Yumlembam Rani Devi (60), Telem Thoibi Devi (31) and her daughter Telem Thajamanbi (8), Laishram Heitonbi Devi (25), her son Laishram Chingkheinganba (2), and her youngest child, Laishram Langamba (8 months) .
A day after they were taken hostages, a photograph of the six sitting together in distress surfaced on social media.
Days later, their bodies were found floating in the river, and taken to Silchar Medical College for postmortem.
It may be mentioned here that the Kuki militants last year had killed two teenagers--a boy and a girl--who were abducted and taken hostage.
The two teenagers--Phijam Hemanjit and Lin-thoingambi Hijam were abducted and taken hostage by the Kuki militants on July 6, 2023. Their bodies are yet to be recovered.
In a striking resemblance to the case of the six women and children, the photographs of the two teenagers in captivity also surfaced on social media sparking public outrage.
While one of the photographs had the two minors sitting alive in captivity of the Kuki militants, another photograph showed the two lying dead on the ground.
According to a time stamp on one of the photographs, the two teenagers are believed to have been killed on July 8, 2023--two days after they went missing.
Manipur had then erupted in protest against the killing of the two teenagers and many used the picture of the young girl as their DP on social media, such as Facebook .
