Dengue alert in Manipur: 4 persons tested positive in Imphal

Imphal, October 03 2016: At least four members of a family at Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai here in Imphal West have been tested dengue positive.

Many other showing similar symptoms are also suspected to have been suffering from the dreaded disease as state epidemiologist team found Dengue virus�(DENV) carrier Mosquitoes at water reservoir at many places of the localities.

Following reports of several people getting high fever at Thangmeiband area since the last couple of days, a team of medics led by Imphal West District Medical Officer Shashikumar today visited the family where almost all members of a family at Thangmeiband Lourungpurel leikai has been suffering from high fever.

While examining the family members four of them had been confirmed dengue fever.

However, the Medical Team sent blood sample of the 4 patients for Alisa test which is not possible here in the state.

Another team of State Medical Directorate, Epidimology Cell also visited the locality along with PG students of RIMS.

When inspected the site many of the water reservoirs like Syntex were found with Dengue virus carrier larvae.�� Speaking to reporters, the Health Directorate authority said that immediate measures to control the virus carrier mosquitoes will be put under control using Anti-Mosquitoes fogging.

A representatives further said that all suspected Dengue case and those suffering with the disease will be provided treatment at free of cost at government hospital including JNIMS Hospital and RIMS Hospital.

As the virus is found at Thangmeiband area nearby localities as well as other places of Valley district has been alerted and all stakeholders are advice to take immediate measures to keep their surroundings clean as well as avoid larvae at piled up water.
