Bunkers dismantled, arms recovered

As many as 13 tactically sited bunkers built by Kuki militants have been dismantled by security forces and a number of arms and ammunition were recovered from Twichin and Saibol villages under Yaingangpokpi police station this morning.
Based on specific intelligence input about the presence of illegal bunkers and a huge cache of arms at Twichin and Saibol villages, a combined team of 4 Mahar (Borders) Regiment and Yaingangpokpi police station launched a massive search operation in Twichin and Saibol villages with sniffer dog.

Huge caches of arms, ammunition, explosives, and war like stores hidden under illegal bunkers were recovered from Twichin and Saibol villages in the course of the search operations.
The security forces destroyed 13 tactically sited bunkers built by Kuki militants and recovered arms and ammunition which included one 12 bore single barrel rifle, one heavy bipod mounted pompi gun, three 60 mm calibre, three 55 mm calibre, one 45 mm calibre, pompi bombs, three numbers of 82 mm calibre bomb, 23 numbers of 75 mm calibre bomb, 11 numbers of 60 mm calibre bomb, 21 numbers of 45 mm calibre bomb, 11 45 mm calibre fin stabilized bomb, nine 45 mm calibre empty shell bomb, two Burmese electronic IEDs weighing 5 Kgs each and two radio sets (Baofeng) .
The recovered arms and ammunition were seized on the spot by observing necessary formalities and handed over to Yaingangpokpi police station, said sources.
A substantial number of arms and ammunition were also recovered from S Mongpi ridges under New Keithelmanbi police station this morning by a combined team of 30 Bn CRPF, 33 Assam Rifles and Kangpokpi district police.
The recovered arms and ammunition included one 7.62 mm SLR with magazine, one .303 rifle with magazine, one single barrel gun, two 9 mm pistols with one magazine each, three ammunition of single barrel, three live ammunition of .303 rifle, one long range pompi bomb, five medium range pompi bombs, two short range pompi bombs, three tear smoke shells and one radio set (Baofeng) .
The recovered arms and ammunition were seized on the spot and handed over to New Keithelmanbi police station, said the sources.
On the other hand, one carbine, three magazines and 50 live rounds of 9 mm ammunition were recovered from Khangabok Loukol near M/S Sorojini Oil Pump, under Thoubal police station on April 1 .
