Imphal, April 30 2024:
The Socialist Revolutionary Party (SOREPA), Kangleipak has greeted all the workers of WESEA and the world on the occasion of May Day.
The outfit has also paid homage to all the workers who were killed in the struggle to secure their rights.
Giving an account on the genesis of May Day, a statement issued by SOREPA publicity and organisation secretary MC Yaiphabi asserted that the struggle for food is the foremost struggle of any living being.
Production of foods and other commodities, establishment of a sovereign State and safeguarding the State's territorial boundary are closely interconnected, it said.
As long as the resources and products of farmers and workers are concentrated in the hands of political leaders and their followers, it would be impossible to protect the State's sovereignty and its territorial boundary, SOREPA said.
It underscored the growing need for unification of all the workers and peasants of the land.
It is essential to create a single platform for all the workers and farmers.
It's time to understand the divisive politics of India where the people are divided on communal lines, and unify all the workers and farmers cutting across communities, it asserted.
If one studies the political economy of Kangleipak and the inherent relationship between the freedom struggle and the State's productivity, one can easily understand the factors which gave rise to the present communal conflict.
"Blaming each other will never bring back our freedom", it said.
Now everyone knows that it is the Government of India which has been allegedly scheming to divide the people of Kangleipak, it continued.
The only task which lies before all the workers, farmers and the people is waging a liberation struggle collectively, it asserted.
Instead of blaming each other, all the communities must come together and fight for the freedom of the land, it continued.
All the elections held in Kangleipak under the Government of India always create divisions among the people in the name of democracy.
These elections only strengthen the cocoon of the capitalist class and their followers, it said.
People have witnessed how the elections transformed some patriotic people, driven by impulse and emotions, into mannerless people, it remarked.
Saying that these elections are basically meant to consolidate the alien rule, the outfit called upon all the farmers to stay away from these elections.
Although May Day is observed every year in India too, there are several issues of exploitation of workers and violation of their rights, it alleged.
Farmers and workers of Kangleipak (Manipur) are even facing greater misery.
At the same time, the number of people who have been living hand to mouth has been multiplying, SOREPA said.
It then asserted that it is the products of farmers and workers which would make a Nation economically and politically independent.
It said that farmers and workers always take pivotal roles in any revolutionary movement.
It further called upon all the farmers and workers to unite and struggle collectively for a progressive, self-reliant and independent Nation.
