Dr Bimol Akoijam hands over Ambulances, dental camp conducted

Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, Member of Parliament from the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, on Wednesday handed over seven ambulance vehicles to the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Manipur State Branch.
The handover ceremony held at the IRCS Manipur State Branch office in MG Avenue, was graced by dignitaries, including Mayanglambam Rajkumar, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West; Y Sher Singh, AC to DC, Imphal East; Pooja Elangbam, Deputy Commissioner, Bishnupur and Dr RK Nimai Singh (retired IAS officer).
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bimol Akoijam said the initiative was aimed at supporting the IRCS's humanitarian mission by enhancing its capacity to provide timely medical assistance across the state.
The MP lauded the dedication of Red Cross volunteers, acknowledging their relentless service for the welfare of the people.
Dr Bimol Akoijam also expressed hope that the ambulances would strengthen the society's response capabilities and serve as a cornerstone for a more robust humanitarian support system in the State.
Notably, the ambulances were procured through his MP Local Area Development Fund.
The vehicles have been allocated to the district branches of IRCS in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts.
The ambulances are expected to bolster emergency response, particularly during highway accidents and natural disasters.
Moreover, a 1-Day Free Dental Camp cum Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) Awareness Programme was held today at Arapti Maning Leikai Community Hall, Imphal East district.
The event was organised by the Arapti Maning Leikai Youth Development Association in collaboration with Arapti Maning Leikai Meira Paibi Lup, Department of Public Health Dentistry, JNIMS, State Mission Director, ADBM Manipur and Oja Bimol Akoijam Fan Club, to commemorate Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam's first year in office as a Member of Parliament.
During the event, ABHA accounts were created and free dental check-ups/treatment were provided to about 300 individuals.
Dr Bimol Akoijam visited the camp and interacted with the participants.
He also distributed tree saplings and medicines to the patients.
